Ok this card seems like a great card till just recently... i have only narrowed this issue down to this new card... but it maybe a ram issue... but if you could just help me out with this... when im playing Counter-Strike 1.6 ill be playing for like 10 or 15 min then all the sudden everything locks up and my screen goes black... it dosnt restart or anything it just locks up and turns black... and my screen turns off... im running windows XP SP2 768MB PC-2100, ATI Radeon X800 XL 256MB, AMD 2400+ XP Does anyone know what this issue might be?
 
Is my computer Bottle Necking? is the new Graphic card just to new/fast for my old mobo, processor, and RAM? and also the mobo that im using as of right now till im able to use my new Asus A8V (waiting on processor and ram) dosnt even support 8x AGP could this also be a Problem? the Mobo i have the card on right now is an ECS K7VTA3... just tell me if the card may be faulty or if maybe its just because its to new for my old parts?

its a 400W Power Supply Cant remember what brand and i cant see the lable when its in my computer...
 
Good lord, yes, 2400+ is a 266 FSB cpu w/ 266 FSB RAM, they run best on 400 or above FSB cpu/ram... Any X800 series cards are very bottlenecked on any outdated systems... But I still don't know why you get a black screen and-- well... what temperatures are you getting with that card when you play games? Download ATI Tray Tools at Guru3D.com to tell you temperatures.. if you can't see the label on your power supply, it's probably a generic one, which isn't good. I was running my X800XL *don't have it anymore* on a generic 400w psu and it kept crashing as soon as I ran any D3D/OpenGL games. (That includes Counter-Strike 1.6, too.)
