jus bought this off ebay, didn't come with instructions
was wondering if i need to put as5 both sides of the memory chips?

the ebay seller said not to,,,so yes or no?
 
dont put AS5 on the ram chips. AS5 can conduct. I'm sure you can download the instructions from the company that makes it. BTW what card are you cooling?
 
Well is it alright to use the thermal compound on the memory chips??

AS5 is very slightly conductive, you'll be ok if you put it on the memory chips as long as you aren't overly generous with it. Just use a small amount and it should be fine.
 
you can put the white stuff on the ram chips. better than nothing and not nearly as conductive as AS5 :D
 
What do you mean "both sides?" Put a paper thin layer on the chips themselves and rub some onto the raised contact portions of the heatsink. That be all you need!

I'd probably use the silicon paste they provide on the ram, because I doubt it will make any difference, but it would be easy (and dangerous) to get AS5 on the PCB. Silencer doesn't do a whole lot for the RAM anyway. Use AS5 on the core, though.
 
He means both sides of the card I take it....

Silencer recommends using the silicone paste as its better on large gaps...

AS5 more for a tight tolerance gap like cpu HSF.
