Help a nub get audio formats?

Hey,

I admit, even thought I own about 10 gigs of songs, i still am pretty much clueless about the world of audio formats. I want to know more about mp4, aac, their advantages, disadvantages, id3 tags, and hints and tips. Does anyone have a good site with a guide to this stuff? any useful stuff would help though.
