I've read a lot of the posts on this board and I'm thinking I'm ready to do this thing. I'm going to cool pretty much my whole computer with water. I want as few fans as I can.

I've ordered most of the parts already and they will arive shortly

Danger Den Z chip water block

Res

Danger Den Maz4 Gpu water block

Dtek White Water cpu block

Eheim 1048

77 Boneville Heater core + 2 120mm high power fans.

Everything 1/2", I know the gpu is 3/8" I will change the fittings to 1/2".

I'm trying to figure out how to run it all. It seems everyone has a different opinion so I stared at it for a little while and came up with two possibilities.

The pump, and res will be on the right side of the computer and not on the top and back. The rad will be on the very top. I figure that if everything is outside of the computer then it will stay cooler than if it was in the 70*+ computer case.

I'm sure there is some fault with my setup, please point it out. I'm not worried about how it will look, I just want it to do a good job. I'm looking to oc this thing as high as it will go. If I burn up something, oh well, I'll upgrade and have another go at it. :D

Both ways will work. The order of parts, as long as the res is right before the pump, matter very little in the setup. Having said that I like the first setup better.

Jus one thing. Is that Eheim 1048 gonna be enough to do 3 blocks? Id suggest looking at the 1250 instead.

Give us pics when its done, and during, and all over the place. just lotsa pics.

Ive heard from people where they say order doesnt matter at all. Just whatever is convient for your case/setup. and others say that the Res needs to go before the pumps. So does it matter or not?

If the pump is not receiving adequate water flow , it may push out water faster than it takes it in, causing cavitation. This puts a fair bit of stress on the pump and if it happens regularly can dramaticly shorten its life. Having the res right before the pump keeps this problem from occuring as it guarantees a good flow to the pump at all times.

You can have the res in a diff spot in the loop and you may not have a problem but why settle for "may not"?

I think I like the first setup better also. It seems to make more sense to send water at it's coolest temp right to the cpu. Also, I just took your advise and bought a 1250, I want the piece of mind it offers over the 1048. Now what do I do with the 1048? I'll think of something or just sell it. As for pics, only got a couple. Not very interesting but here they are.

Here is the fan shroud I made for the dual 120mm fans.

This is the heater core with 1/2" barbs in the ends. It's waiting for the JB weld to dry on the barbs.
