I was removing one hard drive out of my case today, then moved another hd to a diff slot. Suddenly the hd that i moved, a Seagate 300GB, is suddenly showing up as an unpartitioned drive! It was working fine before, and I prob had about 250GB of data on it! I have most of the important stuff backedup, but really... wtf... why suddenly do this, and is there anyway to recover it?

I had three HDs: Maxtor 160, Seagate 200, Seagate 300.

- WinXP was on the Maxtor, I formatted it, then took it out of my PC
- Then I formatted the Seagate200, and installed WinXP on it
- Seagate300 was my data store, so i never touched that.

Was the 300GB Seagate connected during the reinstall?
Do you have SP2 slipstreamed onto your XP CD?
Were there ever any writes made to the 300GB Seagate disk before SP1/SP2 was applied?
Did chkdsk or any other utility run on the 300GB drive in the interimn?
Have you checked for [thread=761272]Corruption[/thread]?

Were there ever any writes made to the 300GB Seagate disk before SP1/SP2 was applied? Just to be clear, WinXP was installed on the Seagate200, not 300. I've been using the 300GB for a few months now.
Did chkdsk or any other utility run on the 300GB drive in the interimn? No.
Have you checked for Corruption? Workin on it
