I know that the I3 both Sandy and ivy support ECC memory but I was under the impresion that certain pentiums and celerons do too.

Please assist by sharing me with some of the other chips that are known to support ECC whether documented by Intel or not. I am looking to build a backup ZFS server to my main socket 2011 monster to run Rsync backups too etc.... It doesnt need to be super high power.

Thanks again.

Maybe someone wrote a webpage with this information that someone can link and save the trouble.

Just quick googling it looks like an i3 can use ECC memory, but there are questions of whether or not it actually uses the error correction ability or it just simply uses it as regular RAM. Are you trying to re-use resources or do you actually need the ECC capability?

I can't imagine that a backup server would benefit much from it.

Reutilize. I am sitting on a 1155 supermicro board and have some ECC ram in a box. Wanted to pair it with the lowest cost ecc 1155 processor I can get like a Pentium G series or whatever if it would support such features.

Thanks so far.

tangoseal,

one week ago you asked the same question, and one week ago I gave you a link to the complete list of 1155 processors that support ECC. What was wrong with that list?

according to intel, yes the celeron 1610 supports ecc. That is the cheapest newest celeron you can get. Here is a further list from intel listing some of the current processors that do.

I too don't understand why that list wasn't good enough?

Im sorry as I do not recall asking a week ago? Can you remind me? If I did ask I apologize. I do not know why you must assume that I blew you off. I cant remember asking that question for the life of it.

Edit** I found this ... http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1752600

I apologize. I must have not subscribed and forgot to check my thread listed above. Thanks for the information a second time. Yes that list is what I was looking for,. Have you never made a forum mistake in your life? Thanks again.

Don't worry, it's not a big deal. "What was wrong with that list?" was an honest question, I was more puzzled than irritated :)
