Not at all.. The family that Mods together, stays together :) Plus, it will be her own computer. Right now she shares a compy with her sister - but sister "really' wants a laptop, so we're doing what we can there. The 8yo is more of a gamer and with tax returns. she'll inherit my 6800GT ;).

My little helped when I modded a monster Antec for a raffle, so she' pretty stoked about doing a Hello Kitty mod.

I should be starting on it soon hopefully, I haven't seen the shade I wanted at walmart so I'm gonna have to order elsewhere for hot pink.
 
I sat there laughing my butt off at this and wonder what would possess someone to do this kind of mod before I realized...you're a girl. Man, this is what happens when I hang out with fellow geeks in the real world for too long. Probably why I don't have a girlfriend :rolleyes:

Got any pics of the original case? I'm quite interest to see how this turns out, as both of my little sisters have come-and-go phases of Hello Kittyishness. Might have to take notes from you here.
 
if I can I'm gonna mod my Nintendo DS to match, but I need some kinda dye instead of paint for it.

My budget has been crappy as well or I wouldve been done with mine a LONG time ago. What I normally do is finish everything I can without buying something, then buy everything I need all at once. :D

I'm not sure what sort of paint you're using for the case mod, but what you SHOULD be able to do is use a plastic primer then cover it with any latex enamel paint. I know Rustoleum makes a paint for plastic primer that enables you to do this. I haven't pesonally done it, but the paint for plastic I used to paint my drive covers seems to be very durable. Just thought I'd mention it, in case you don't come up with something else.

well its more I'd want something that cant be chipped off as easy as paint, and wont be bothered by a scratch.

Vinyl "dye" is still paint... just designed to bond to plastic better. You can still chip/scratch it off... but if you clean the surface well, and then put a clear sealant coat on top of the paint, it's pretty durable.
 
Yeah... paint for plastic, vinyl dye, same thing.

Sounds to me like your best option would be to use a plastic primer, then cover with a color coat and clearcoat like you would any other spot on your case.
 
As a general note, its all about the preparation. Proper and effective preparation of the surface can make or break the whole result.

I was considering pearl pink for my 240sx.. although that was also when I was considering lightweight wheels and a planned 350rwhp turbocharger setup... lol

That has since transformed into me selling my 240sx, keeping my RX-7 visually stock and painting a 300zx pearl pink for my fiancee'.

the project still is on hold, I will proably start soon though..

But debating on spending the project funds on a DFI mobo XD
