hi guys.. lol k, i guess its goodbye nvidia for me... i will be purchasing a sapphire ati x850xt (heard it was well worth for its performance)... i have 0%(zero) knowledge of what to do with my new card? this is my situation... i just uninstalled the drivers of my bfg 6800 nvidia... and i plugged the card out.. now my pc is dead. so i guess il just plug this x850xt? then what? i dunno anything about at drivers catalyst or whatever you call them.. what driver version should i download? o and yea what the hell is microsoft net framework? do i need this? errr so complicated

anyt tips will be greatly appreciated! thanks guys :)

You will need the .net framework to install CCC (catalyst control center), some dont bother with CCC it really up to you, you can just download the drivers if you want. go to www.ati.com and download the newest Cat6.2's install and then reboot and your golden!

Now if you want to overclock look around the net for ATITool 0.25 beta 13 (newest one)

www.techpowerup.com has a shiteload of ATI articles, mods and whatnot...have fun! :D

You will need the .NET Frameworks in order to make Catayst with Control Center work. There are 2 version of Catalyst: CCC- wt Control Center and CP- Control Panel. ATi is only making CCC now though, it looks nicer but no apperant advantage. When you "plug your card in" go to www.ati.com and on the lower left corner there will be Catalyt 6.2. When you click that it will bring you to download page where you can get Latest Cat's 6.2 and NET Frameworks 1.1/ NET Frameworks is a Microsoft based program, you have it if you updated your Windows in the last year. Some new programs are based on it, ATI's CCC and Gamecomm. After you download and install you should be all good.

so if my windows professional sp2 is fully updated? do i stil need to download it? :D

1 more question guys: whats the difference with the sapphire x850xt OEM? and the x850xt retail version? the retail version costs 10$ more.. i just want the card to come with the 6 pin pci-e cable adapter.. so which version do i get? thanks!!!

In my opinion any/all ATI users should try the new Omega Drivers with ATI Tray Tools. ATI Try Tools will give you a good performance boost if you enable some of the tweaks. It also gives you great options that aren't in CCC. It also takes a lot less RAM then CCC. Of course it also lives up to its name, Tray Tools, it sits in your tray for easy access and tweaking.

The Omega Drivers come bundled with ATI Tray Tools. Grab it GSG9PH, you won't be sorry.

P.S. I download from www.guru3d.com , they have a forum there for support as well.

There's no real difference, besides possibly the package contents. The actual card will be the exact same thing. The retail box might give you a couple extra cables, some extra software, and maybe a free game or two. But again, the card is the exact same thing.

does anybody know if the sapphire oem x850xt come with the 6 pin adapter cable? its so important for my pc. since my pssuply does not have that pin

Newegg will always list box contents with their products. Looks at the thumbs on the left and see if it's bundled with it.

I just checked for you, and yes it comes bundled with all the regular cables, including the power adapter for the 6 pin PCI (from a molex connector), so you should be fine ordering that card (just make sure you have an adequate power supply).

I agree with the previous guy. Skip everything and install the Omega drivers w/ ATI Tray Tool. It's a wicked setup, I'd never go back to normal Cat 6.2+ATI Tool.

I have no Idea, if you go to newegg it should tell you under box contents. I personally see no difference in omega drivers and ATi's official. It seemes to me that I get better IQ on Catalists. If you have sp2 installed more than likely you have the NET Frameworks, if you do not it is really easy to install, no biggie.

ey guys, does the ccc 6.2 have a fan controller? or should i really download omega 6.1

Personally, I wouldn't load the cat 6 series at all, load the 5.13 with the control panel (not the CCC ) and ati tool.

The Cat 6 series really sucks the life out of your PC and the X850XT doesn;t need them.

Uhm ok? so i totally do not get it. where can i download 5.13 without ccc? i only want it with control panel? what if i download the 5.13 ccc edition, is there an option not to install the ccc? but install the control panel instead?

If you want to avoid the CCC (I personally hate it), you can go to the dial-up section of their downloads and there is an option for only the driver and no extra stuff (it's like 4MB). That's what I use, but I'm the kind that likes to keep life simple and sweet. Do whatever suits you.
