So I decided to play a little CS:S today and what do I see....
de_dust0000.jpg

Currently using Catalyst 5.2 drivers (8.10) on a 9600 Pro, not overclocked, running 1024x768 textures and models on medium, AA off, trilinear filtering, vsync off.

The Catalyst 5.2s have been proven to lower performance in HL2 and the Source engine games.

Try going back to the 5.1s.

The Catalyst 5.2 thread.

Look at the graph in post 21, it is pretty clear.

It looks like one of the textures didn't load right. Perhaps a bump map or something. They use this purple checkerboard as the default texture. Can come out looking pretty weird sometimes. I've definalty seen that effect before. If you reload it will likely be fixed.

restart source....its happend to me once or twice.

and yes..use the 5.1s....i was forced to use the 5.2s at a lanparty..i use a 9600pro on the rig in my system with full AA and 4x AF at 800x600 (im best at this resolution..i dunno why....

I had that happen to me with one of the beta 71.xx nvidia drivers. Try an older catalyst suite.

I get the exact same thing when I enable 16X AF on my 6800 GT at 1280 by 960 rez with the latest official drivers......weird.

oh yea...thats when it happend to me! when i tried 6XAA / 16XAF!!!!

thanks for reminding me

Happens to me when I change AA or AF in game. But restarting the game makes it go away.

yes i beleive this is the cause....cept for the AA part...its AF i think...

rofl, I started css up again and it went away, but the 5.1's made a HUGE difference. I was wondering why the graphics were getting so choppy (even at crappy settings).

I should RMA my card and see if I can get an x600 or something :p
