No the processor prices have not changed for the Core Duo's or Core Solo's the chipsets are the ones which have had $2 removed from them...

Correction: The combination of the Core Solo/Duo + Chipset + Wireless has decreased by $2. So technically yes the processor has gone down in price, but only for the OEM builders. Unless you can buy the comobo from someplace like newegg.

Well no, if you want to be nit picky, then it's the "combination" that has decreased in price and not the processor, since the processor prices are unchanged...

Well thank god the 630 didnt go down in price or I would be pissed as I just brought one. I payed 170 for mine anyway so I actually saved 8 bucks from Intel MSRP price.

The 930 looks like it's disappearing this quarter too. :p No wonder Fry's had a retail 920 + motherboard for $199 last week.
 
The CPU's you really want is an Intel ES CPU. unlocked multipliers and are easily tweaked. I had a 2.0A GHZ CPU running 2.66 for over a year before the 2.66 came out. Now nobody has any that I know. :(

I'm building a secondardy PC and I'd love to see the 930 at the 209 price. I wish newegg would lower it. Oh well.

ZZZ has the 930 for 219 (shipped) and the 920 for 212 (Shipped)
 
this looks like the end of single core processors. The dual core versions are now only $40 more than the single core versions. Pretty damn impressive imo. Now if only AMD will start lopping some prices, it could get interesting for us consumers.

The person(s) that responded to you are almost certainly not the people that set their prices. Those sound more or less like canned answers, i'm sure higher-ups know that intel changed the price and eventually newegg's price will change too.

Yeah, Intel was pricing the higher speed 900s against higher speed X2s, but it wasn't a good performance comparison. The only somewhat competitive dual core CPUs Intel has are the 900 XE models... competitive to mid-range X2s (4200+ and 4400+). :p

AMD enjoyed some performance ownage for the last couple of years in the desktop and server market, but the tables are about to turn for desktop and 1-2 socket servers. Unfortunately (for AMD), including the mobile segment with those others, that is 98%+ of the x86 market. Bye bye healthy ASPs in Q4 and beyond.
 
Not sure why e-tailers do NOT post a Sspec or MM# for these CPUs...

I do not want to purchase one if they are not the new C1 stepping processors released 04/24/2006.

Newegg just says that they will NOT physically look on the box for a Sspec or MM#.

I am having the same issue finding the Intel D975XBX rev 304 motherboard. No one posts the revision numbers even though they are on the side of the box! =/

Yeah I have been following Intel's Core Architecture developments for sometime.
I cna't wait for Intel to release Conroe on destkop and finally take the crown away from AMD for gaming. ;)

I think a Pentium D 940 vs Athlon 64x2 3800+, would be a reasonable performance matchup. Though you can argue for both sides if you pick a benchmark that runs extremely well on one or another.

Most of the larger retailers never really see the boxes to look at. The parts go from receiving into a bin containing all the other parts with the same barcode. When an order is placed, a picker comes along and grabs one item from that box, then moves on to the next. They don't have time to stand there checking the rev for your order when they have 100s more to get done.

Now the smaller places, they probably only have a handful of each item and so can easily check for you.
