I just installed an Orion 585w on my new Opteron 165/Foxconn 6150K8MD system. Seems to be working fine so far- the voltage rails are right where they should be, even with 6 HDD's installed. Interesting, though- I originally bought it MONTHS ago (when Directron had them on sale previously), but when I installed it in a case powering an Abit NF7-S v2.0 (20-pin connector), the computer wouldn't boot (and yes, I separated the end 4-pin connection and properly lined-up the plug). But it worked just fine on the Foxconn, which is a native 24-pin connector mobo. Oh yeah, note that compared to a Fortron 400w FSP400-60PFN, the Orion PSU is a lot lighter in weight, maybe 2/3 that of the Fortron.

Also, a weird thing with the NF7-S, BTW. I own two of them, and both, no matter what PSU I install, show a 12V rail that is rather low, never above 11.5V, even with a barebones setup of components. All reporting utilities say the same thing, 11.37 to 11.5 volts. The sensors installed on the mobo, perhaps? The Orion/Foxconn combination 12V rail is running at 11.97V, which makes me much happier.

well if you think the sensors installed on the mobo are wrong than why does 11.97 make you happy? couldn't that be wrong too? either way, if you're not testing with a DMM you cant really be sure. i had a psu read 11.4V and it ran perfectly. Testing with a DMM showed 11.9's.

Thanks for the link to the voltage measurement guide. Fortunately, I already have a DVM. Excellent! :D
