Heavy Rain

I think all told I had two console freezing glitches, about 10 glitches where the character refused to do anything (or got stuck half way through a movement)... and umpteen audio loss glitches.

Just beat the game, I can honestly say it's one of the best games I've ever played!

It has its faults, like some horrible camera angles (in small areas) and an archaic control scheme for simply walking around, but overall it is a masterpiece. The story was excellent, the plotholes I've heard some people talk about can be easily explained away, the ambience is excellent, the music is epic, the graphics are wonderful and the QTE's are immersive.

I really hope that more games like this get released in the future! Now I've got to go re-play it to see some of the alternate endings!

Same here, I watched my significant other play for awhile. I probably wouldn't have found the blunder trophy without her . Love you babe :D

Are you kidding me? That was option one as far as I was concerned. :D

I'm really enjoying this game, very immersive.

I've needed up to 2 system power cycles to get the game running without flashing menu items, subtitles and glitching textures though. I think my PS3 is on its way out.

I'm enjoying the hell out of the game so far. My only complaint is the "move the controller" nonsense. With a game paced like this, I play it pretty slouched over and if the pad is in your lap - you can't do the one that involves lowering the pad. Sometimes those QTE's come out of nowhere, too.
Still - that's a pretty small complaint.

I was absolutely ecstatic about this game a few months ago, but after playing it through, I have to say there wasn't anything that much spectacular about it beside its gorgeous graphics.

First, the developers boasted this game as being unique, as an experience that blurs the thin line between movies and games. Conceptually in the gameplay, this has been done eons ago with adventure games like Chevaliers of Baphomet or Sam & Max. They just updated this concept with nowadays standards and adapted it into a gigantic flow chart.

Now, I really enjoyed the game. And even after finishing it, I felt pretty happy about it, but only for a little bit. Maybe I was over thinking it, but it occurred to me that the game has a major plot hole and a few minor ones. Now for a game that advertised itself as being story driven, that is a major disappointment. I felt even worse when reviewing some minor plots where I felt that the developers were extremely cheap and cheated on their audience.

I really didn't care about the small glitches. The audio stuttered a few times on me, my PS3 froze once. Those glitches kind of blemished the overall experience, but they were acceptable in my book. However, conceptualizing such a flawed story and the use cheap deceptions by the director broke the game for me.

70/100

I haven't had any glitches or issues yet - but deanx0r does make a pretty good point. Outside of the control scheme, the game is essentially a modern point/click adventure game. Taking the controls into account, it's pretty remnicent of Grim Fandango, although obviously thematically very different.
I miss all of those old games, though. Sam & Max, Full Throttle, Noctropolis, Phantasmagoria, Gabriel Knight, etc.

I've only ran into one bug that I can remember. I beat the game last night, but at one point my character got stuck and could not step out of a small incline. I was eventually able to get the character out though.

I love this "game" and so does the fiancee... I understood what I was buying. Not really a game, but the interactive movie. Now, Im not far, cause the fiancee wants to watch as I play through, but def worth the money for me. My PS3 is lonely on games with only MGS and LBP with me owning my ps3 over a year and a half

Played just the demo at a friends house and it might sway me to buy a PS3.... it looks amazing.

wanted to update you guys on how pathetic and crappy sony is. Really this is just a rant.

But PSN is down, so you can not play heavy rain, even with ur ps3 disconnected from the internet. Imagine, XBL goes down, and you cant play single player games....

So ya, sony wont let me play heavy rain because it needs to sync my trophies, pathetic huh?

Sony really sucks at software/networking compared to microsoft.

Here is a video of what happens:

That has to do with the game manufacturer, not Sony as they didn't create Heavy Rain.

What the heck were they thinking when they made Heavy Rain require trophy syncing

that sucks, hope sony get it sorted, oh well at least its not christmas!

HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SONY... You all should be saying ,"Quantic Dream sucks right now because I can't play my game because they require me to..."

Btw, for those of you who beat the game... how long did it take you? About how many hours did it take to beat the game?

uhhh...no... its sonys fault. If it had nothing to do with sony, why would they be working on the fix? It is caused by the PS3s internal clock apparently.. But ya. sony def has something to do with it....

Wow... 11 hours is quite a lot longer than most people seem to be getting. My first playthrough was done in 7 (hardest difficulty) and my next was done somewhere between 5 and 6 hours (medium difficulty). Obviously I knew exactly what I was doing in the second run though.

I haven't yet won the game, but it doesn't seem like tedious exploring is needed in most areas. You get some additional background on things, but I stopped anally looking in every corner after a few hours of finding very little. The game seems to clue you in if you're really supposed to look around carefully.
Knowing that much can probably cut the game hours way down. At first I was treating it like I was hunting for Uncharted relics.

I didn't have anyone spoil it for me ;)

I'm pretty certain that didn't affect the playtime. I'm not even sure how it could.

Someone on www.ps3forums.com spoiled Heavy Rain for me last night. Not even on purpose! Their forum has mouse over previews that show you thread contents. So while making an effort to NOT click on the thread, I left my mouse over it anyway and saw the details in the small thread preview box. AAARRRGGGHHH :(

I enjoyed my play through but had some issues with screen tearing. It hurt what was otherwise solid graphics and an immerse experience. I played on the most difficult setting and felt some of the QTE's were cheap. Using the Sixaxis control isn't the easiest thing to do in a relaxed position.

Yeah... hold L1 (OK) + R1 (OK) + L2 (OK) + R2 (OK) + X (OK) + O (...) + SQUARE (!!!!!) + TRIANGLE (FUUUUUU)

zzzzzttt! :p

Yeah, the button holding sequences get weird near the end. How in the hell do they think I'm holiding my controller anyway?
I still hate the motion related ones. With only a few exceptions, they never quite work right for me.

Hmmm - my trophies came back last night. I still have 5 or 6 missing from the period when the system went down, but all of my earlier ones returned.

No spoilers: Anyone else disappointed with the ending they got? Not sure if my choices had something to do with it, but there seemed to be a giant unresolved plot element related to Ethan that was left untouched.

I actually think I got the "good" ending, it just seems like there was a huge aspect of Ethan's plotline that was left completely untouched. I figure on my next pass I'll try to make some different decisions and see if they flesh him out a little more.

I loved the game, my ending was pretty cool.

And yes there was a huge aspect of Ethans plot left untouched, I am hoping they come out with some DLC to explain that...

Love this game. Some moral choices are hard to make. They beat the crap of the dillemas from Dragon Age or Mass Effect 2. You sometimes really wonder, what would you do in the same situation. QTEs are not hard, tho I play on lowest difficulty - I want to feel the story, not worry about buttons.

One thing tho that irritates me are the CSI goggles. They feel really out of the game.

And... for me Quantum Dreams are like Blizzard, they released few games, but every single of them was top notch, with great plot, gameplay and music . Too bad Omikron 2 got cancelled :(

The harder difficulty levels were far better. It adds quite a bit of tension knowing you can (and will) fuck things up.

For sure, gotta play on the hardest difficulty. I couldn't imagine easy-mode. For all the kidding about the extreme combos (mash entire keypad and hold), the QTE's are all fairly easy.

It'll be that one important QTE that you'll miss though. That one you didn't even notice as you put the controller down for just a second to light a cigarette....:p

Yeah, several QTE's come out of nowhere. Just when you think you're watching a movie - BAM, they'll throw one out of nowhere.
Even knowing they're coming, many of the "move the controller" ones still get me. I'm just no good at those or something.

Btw, for those of you who beat the game... how long did it take you? About how many hours did it take to beat the game?
Took about 10-11 hours for me. It was a truly amazing experience. One day when the experience isn't quite as fresh in my mind I'll go through it again. And a while later, again. It's something that's worth playing over and over, just not all in a row.

One odd thing about the game is that the creator pretty much suggested that people should only play through the game once.

Having platinumed the game it's easy to see why. It's a little too easy to see the strings behind it all when you play through a second time.
