So the amazing Intel Xeon X5550s has arrived. I can't just mow with them alone, I need motherboards, GPUs and so on... Time for me to do some crunching on what'll be the most ideal configuration for me...

Watch out guys!

Thanks to nitrobass24 for a such speedy shipping!

Well if it were me.

X8DTH-6F
12gb GSkill RAM
Corsair HX1000(Dual 8 pin) + Corsair HX620
4x XFX GTX295s

XP x64
Run two linSMP -smp8 VMs and 8 GPU2 clients.

And if were me as well. At least with that board you can keep your options open.

It's not that much. Figure 550 for mobo 400 for RAM 2000 for video cards and 500 for psus and it's only around $3,500. But it'll pull more than 1kW from the wall. So you may wanna factor in that 20A outlet.

Maybe it is $10k. :D

Don't forget A/C working doubble time to cool off that space heater.

Basements help a bunch. When I had my 3x 9800GX2 rig there was no where else in the house that was cool enough to keep that thing from melting.

This kinda talk just makes me want a dually soo bad :D

After spending nearly that much on my main rig at the beginning of the year, I have to wait :(
