Heatspreader removal

Alright, to make the point as short as possible...

I put on this heatspreader to my memory stick, and only after I actually had the clamp put in did I realize that I had it positioned to a point where one of the mobo levers couldn't latch on

What would be the best way to take it off without damaging the memory? I've already taken off the clip that holds it in place, so I'm speaking about the adhesive specifically.
 
I have heard that you can throw it in the freezer for a few minutes and it will make it easier to remove, but you may wait for some other opinions becuase this is just speculation of what I have heard before. What kind of adhesive did it come with I know the stuff that came on my Kingston HyperX was just some double sided tape and I was able to just gently peel it away from the chips with out any damage.
 
That's an idea, although given that I live in Florida, I'm a bit worried about the condensation issue once I get it out of the Freezer.

Although I don't think it would be a problem if it were only for a minute or two.

As far as the adhesive, It seems pretty well stuck judging from my previous attempts at prying it. It was roughly half a mm thick I would guess, and it did have the consistency of tape from what I've seen.
 
How do you remove the damn metal prongs that hold the heatspreaders on? I mean the frag tape is the least of my worries, I can just peel that off.
 
that stuff is pretty permanent. Once you get it off you'll see that you're gonna have to take a razor to it to get the remnants off. So, i would say just yank it off. Not really much you can do considering.. Maybe an exacto knife to help it off a little?

thin piece of metal underneath and pry.

He may still want to use the product he has bought.

If the heatspreaders are like mine, the two metal clips that hold them on will have a tiny metal indentation on each side where they clip in. I had to remove mine when I replaced a stick. I just used some flatfaced tweezers and GENTLY lifted up from the bottom of the clip and pushed ever so SLIGHTY upward, after getting one side up, I put a piece of cardboard inbetween them and then did the same thing on the other side, then it just slid off.

It is not epoxy, put it is a pain to get it off if you don't either freeze it or heat it up first. One time I didn't have a hairdryer and I didn't want to freeze (as I didn't want to wait to make sure ALL possable amounts of condensation were gone), I just ran Memtest for 2 hours and then the sticky stuff came off pretty easy.
