I wanna build a new computer and I'm lookin' to get an nForce2 AMD mobo with a 3000+ Barton processor.

Currently I'm looking to get this ThermalTake SILENT BOOST Highest Performance Cooler for AMD AthlonXP up to 3400+.

Any other ideas about a better heatsink, perhaps?

Silent Boost is the quiet variant of the Volcano 12. A decent HSF, but not really high performance. Zalman CNPS 7000A/AlCu seems to be the best noise/cooling compromise. Also not too expensive. If you need better cooling and have the budget, try Thermalright SP-97 with a panaflo 92mm. Get the BX version of the panaflo (RPM monitoring).

I think I'm gonna get the Zalman 7000.

Also, what about case fans? I want some good case fans with blue LEDs. Thermal Take and Vantec have some. Which do you think is better?

I'd take vantec over Tt. I would get some nice panaflos instead, and forget the LEDs if it was me. But that, of course, is just my opinion...

in that case, get coolermaster case fans, they're comparable in noise to panaflo L's, but actually push out a decnt amount of air. Prices have shot up on those fans though, since they're so popular/good...

ball bearings will last longest/longer but are noisier... Rifle bearings are much quieter but will not last as long (don't worry, i dont think you'll be disappointed in the life of the fan)...

Sweet. I think I'm gonna go with the Cooler Master blue LED fans. The blue is deeper, anyway, and out of 235 reviews, 95% or more give them five stars.

Thank the gods for the [H]!
