Ok, refund still hasn't come back (no clue why) but I'm getting ready to pick out some heatsinks, these ones are highly rated on newegg and seem to work like a true, but at 92 they are a tad smaller, which should be good for a dual board like the SR2

Think it's a good unit?

No. They do not handle OC heat. Troll the heatsink forums, I've seen several complaint threads about the 212+ lately and how they suck at oc heat. They are just not made for it. (compared to others)

Buy a CoGage TRUE Spirit if you want to go cheap (under $50-60). The newer version shipping now in the blue and black box comes with the bolt through kit; you don't need to buy it separately anymore. :)

Honestly I wouldn't bother with anything but a TRUE Spirit, even with the Noctua NH-D14 out. You're looking at a few degrees warmer on the TS, but they are arguably the best bang for the buck coolers you can get (and they are roughly top 5 on temps). You sacrifice a few C on a TS over a D14 but you keep $40 in your pocket. ;) Even better if you pair one with a better fan (I haven't used the fan it comes with, admittedly). Going from my S-Flex E's and Noctua P12's to what I'm running now on mine (high speed Yate Loon D12SH-12), I dropped another 5-6c at load with the Yate.

Thumbs up from the [H] also. :D

funny, that was the one I was looking for but didnt see it on newegg, maybe I just missed it, thats the problem surfing on a phone

Ive got a normal true on my i7 now, but I'm not sure they will fit on a SR2

got links?

Unless thoes HSF have Xeon kits they won't mount anyways.

I think H50s are your best option. They use a threaded mount system to begin with. (I do belive it is compatable but doubble check before you click buy)

+1 on the H50's.

I'm already under water on my rig so I will be sticking to water. I've just got to rework the plumbing so I can cool two CPUs, but other than that, not many changes.

ok, well I'm sitting on my new pair of 5530's (d0) and I was thinking, isnt the h50 kinda big? Where the hell am I gonna put to rads? I'll be benching this rig so no worries about a case but isnt there a good air solution?

Get the H50 floating edition :p

But seriously the reason I looking at H50s for when I get the SR2 is they have a small footprint on the board and you can rig something up for the rads fairly easy.

But since the 5530 is a 80 watt CPU I'm not sure we need the cooling tot he point of a true.

The 5530 is an 80 watt CPU at stock. Going into an SR-2, you're going to OC the crap out of it and it will no longer be an 80W CPU :D

Ohh I know. The thing is your starting at 80 not 130.

You've got 30's don't you too?

And SR2 comes with xeon and i7 mounting plates
