What is the quietest heatsink I can buy for my Pentium 4 2.0a?

The most noise I hear from my computer is coming from the heatsink and from the ATI 8500LE AGP card.

TIA

The Zalman 7000AlCu is a nice, quiet HSF. Used with 3Ghz P4 and old (hot) AMD Thunderbird, worked great on both. I didn't even use the speed controller, just plugged into the 3pin fan header and let it run full speed. It was still quieter than the Antec PS and the ATI 9800.

Two possible issues. One, it has a big (92mm) fan and heatsink, so check the website to make sure your motherboard has sufficient clearance. Two, I haven't used them for OCing, so there might be some headroom issues.

Thanks for the advice. I do not plan on overclocking anyways. I just want to make my computer super quiet. Also I do not do a lot of gaming so I'm happy with my ATI 8500 LE card and I want to make that one quiet too.

The seagate Hdd I already have it quiet enough and I have the Antec True Blue Power Supply. This should make my PC ultra quiet.

I also reccomend the Zalman 7000AlCu. It works very well, even with an overclocked system. I had my 3.06ghz running at 3.4ghz, and the temps never got over 50C. The fan is large and puts out quite a bit of air, but is nearly silent. It is a bit large, but I havent had any clearance issues with a MSI 875P board in an XaserII case. If you have a very small case, you may have problems with the top of the heatsink hitting the power supply.

I have the ABIT motherboard in my signature and the Antec Lanboy case.

maybe the HS you just took off the proc -fan? That would probably cool it fine. ;)

Never been brave enough to pry the heatsink from my videocard.

Of course, more than willing to rip it off my $400 processor. Go figure.

Oh well, try the Zalman site. They are big on quiet cooling and I know they have some video card solutions. Might work for you.

I have the ATI 8500LE AGP card and I can't hear it over my Vantec Stealth 80MM (21 dBA) on HS and 2 TopMotor 80MM fans (about 30 dBA). What kind of "quiet" are you talking about exactly? Just curious.

I just want the computer to be really really quiet. I can't explain it in technical words. Just quiet :)
