I have a AMD64 3000+ (Clawhammer) currently running with stock HSF OC'd @ 2.1Ghz (210 x 10, 1.6v Vcore)....my temps are 45c idle and 60c !!! full load (prime 95).....which scares me.

Im looking to overclock more to about 2.4Ghz and i need suggestions for the best (price no bar) heatsink/fan for the job. I dont want to get into water cooling just as yet, but if its required for that kind of overclock please do let me know.

Also if anyone can suggest a good 80mm system fan...that will be great.

Thanks in advance!

Wouldn't a 3000+ clawhammer be 1.8GHz? Meh, either way, On my 3400+ Claw I'm running an XP-120 w/ a 120mm Panaflo on top...absolutely slays the temps of the stock cooler. If I remember correctly, it fits with no problems on your DFI, but you can check Thermalright's website to be positive.

Just out of curiosity, which way do you have your fan facing?

My XP120 should be here in a few days and I'm trying to decide which way I should install the fan.

Dang, bought that already based on my post? I feel special :D Hopefully you have/ordered some AS5 to go with that. Well, the fan is really easy to swap back and forth to try both methods, so try out both to see which works best for your case. I personally have mine blowing down at the XP-120.

Were you one of the guys who originally suggested it to me a few months back? I've been doing a lot of reading on it as of late and the more I read about it the more I like. So yeah, probably something you said helped influence the desicion. :)

That's cool that the fan can be swapped out easily. I'm going ot go out tomorrow and pic up a temp contoller so that I can actually monitor the temps while putting a load on it. I have no idea what program I can use with my mother board. I've got PC Probe but I want some type of program I can use too. Haven't been able to find anything though.

And yeah, I ordered my XP120 at about 10 this morning and it's already been shipped.

Idunno, I tell anyone who asks to get it, because I've had nothing but great results with mine :) Just remember to let the AS5 or whatever you use to burn in before saying yey or ney to the results.

rt now i have the fan blowing into the heatsink.

Im confused about my 3000+.... i earlier used cpuz...which showed it as Newcastle...and now tht i got a newer version of it says Clawhammer....so i dunno what it is....

So the XP-120 is the best heatsink to use...with a Panaflo fan?...

Thanks.

Panaflo is what they recommend (Thermalright) so that's what I use. And it's silent as can be, and does the job wonderfully so I have no reason to change it with something else. And if I do, swapping the fan off takes about 15 seconds max ;)

I personally have a XP-90 and my 92mm Vantec Tornado is coming in from fedex today...

It makes as much air as the 120mm Panaflo high output fan, at a higher RPM...so I'm hoping it'll do REALLY well :D

Not entirely sure. Some people say they're close, and the XP-120 is better. Some people say they're the same, other people say the XP-120 sucks and the XP-90 runs much better....for me the XP-120 works great, so I don't see any room for improvement. The only upside is the XP-90 isn't as big so you have more room in ur case...but I still vote for the XP-120 if it fits on you board. Check www.thermalright.com to see if it fits.

Yeah, I've had many a conversation with people about the XP-120. Can't wait for mine to come in now.

ok...i hv finally decided on the XP-120..could anyone suggest the best fan for it?....i dont want to use the panaflo....cos its not fast enough for me.

thanks.

There are some 120mm Delta fans that push over 150CFM... If that's what your looking for.

But if you want a more reasonable recommendation the Panaflo H1As push a ton of air but are pretty noisy. No where near what the Delta would be though.

Panaflo has a 138cfm fan. It's the one I got with my XP-120.

Nice, but it's got some crazy requirements.

I'm planning on building a server soon I may end up getting a few of those.
