I've had an E8400 for a while now but never got around to tinkering with it. Now I want to, but definitely need some better cooling for it. Price isn't a huge concern as long as the price is too much. $30-$50 is fine, while $60+ is not.

Any suggestions? I've been out of the loop for a while.

coolermaster hyper 212+.. best heatsink you can buy for the money, and will last you for a few upgrades as well. its 40 bucks on newegg but you can usually find it under 40 bucks if you look around.

Thank you for the reply. I looked around and was able to find it for $30 including shipping, so I went ahead and ordered it.

Quick question:I looked for the Cogage TRUE Spirit and couldn't find it in the $30-50 range, anyone know why?

Because in my country, the TRUE Spirit costs just $5 more than the 212 Plus and it beats the 212 in every way.

I just got the Cooler Master 212+ in the mail and installed it and now for some reason my temp does not budge at all. Regardless of which core it is or whether it's idle or under heavy load, it always reads 39C. I've used CoreTemp, RealTemp, and HWMonitor and they all read the same.

Obviously this can't be right?

EDIT - Just checked the BIOS and it goes from 23.5-24C.

I've been messing around with overclocking it and at 4GHz with about 1.35v the temps do rise above 39C. It seems like if the temp is under 39C it reads 39C regardless. However, if the temp is above 39C it registers fine.

Anybody ever heard of such a thing? I guess it's not a huge deal, but still kind of odd.

Mine did that too. I don't know if they all do that or what.
