I have a Dell which I'm porting over to a new atx frame.
What I'm wondering is do you think I could just zip tie a fan to the heatsink?
Its an xps 410, so the heatsink is pretty decent my cpu idles at about 31-30 C and after 4hrs of Prime95 it caped at about 50 C.
I was also thinking I might keep the whole shroud as one unit, but I'm not to sure how its all connected.
I'll be jumping over to a Lain Li case either the LIAN LI PC-A08B or the LIAN LI PC-V1200Aplus II if that helps anyone for reference.
If any additional info is needed I'll be happy to supply it.

If there are accomidations for the zip tie to securly mount then yes you can do that. I have ziptied fans in computers (case not heatsinks though) in situtations where I had irregular mounting patterns.

You might get some better responses in Cooling, let's go there now, shall we. ;)
