Ok! I'm nervous about buying a heatsink with my antec p180b case + and my GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail. I have everything purchased. The quad core is coming ! I want to OC it to 3 ghz. I dont want to push it. I'm not sure if the Ultra will fit in my computer? Gimme a solution. I've been looking at the scythe infinity.

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

But when I look up the scythe infinity. Ever OC'er thread doesn't mention anything about it. I'd like one that was somewhat quiet. And hopefully not too big. Is it worth it to purchase artic silver 5 thermal grease in addition? (or use the one that comes with my quad core)

Best coolers are the Thermalright Ultra and Xtreme 120, followed by the Tuniq Tower 120.

The scythe is good, but you need to get the version (or extra part?) that includes the backplate for support!

I have the same case and GA-P32-DQ6. Both the Tuniq Tower and TRUE fit. Get the TRUE and quality 120mm fan and be happy. :)

Enzotech Ultra-X

I thought about getting this with artic silver paste for 68 shipped. Will i regret? thanks for the help

Top 10 list from FrostyTech is a good resource (it's called the top 5 but there's 10 items listed in each category, hence my liberties with the name). I think their testing method is better than others.

The Ultra-X is #6 on the list. The TRUE hasn't been tested but it's minor brother, the TRU, has and is rated #1. Unfortunately FrostyTech hasn't tested the Tuniq Tower.

Earlier today I saw a TRUE for < $50 in the Deals forum here. So you can save yourself some $$ over the Ultra-X and probably get better cooling to boot. Actually it was here.

Then i need a fan correct.. Thanks. Shipping is 18 though =(. Hmmm. I'm looking at the Tuniq Tower for $52.15. God this decision is hard. Should I grab the Tuniq Tower... some artic silver paste and ship it? Do i need a fan with the Tuniq Tower?

Didn't realize the shipping was uber expensive. Correct you'd need a 120mm fan for the TRUE. The Tuniq comes with a fan.

I can get the Tuniq for 52 shipped. Do i need to grab artic silver 5 or use whatever one I have? Thanks so much man... really helping me out. First build ever =(

You don't need AS5, the Tuniq comes with heat transfer paste. I used AS5 since I had some already. If you have $5 to spend why not, else stick with what you got.

AS5 ftw. My zalman came with thermaltake crap.

AS5 improved my temps by 5c over the thermaltake crap that came with the hsf.

AS5 IMO is worth the purchase :)

....or ShinEtsu X23. Good stuff, potentially even better than AS5. Saw a review that showed very impressive results, but I can't find it now. Next time I'm ordering things, I'll be getting a tube.

Thanks for all you're help. I bought the Tuniq Tower 120, and Arctic Silver 5 paste. Now its time to put this all together with the q6600 and my ga-p35-ds3r + my p180b case. Now I just need to find out how to OC this. (first time build and first time OC !)

The paste that comes with the tuniq is probably the hardest paste I've ever had to put on. It's very waxy and doesn't like to stay put.

Probably a good thing I ordered Artic Silver 5 paste then. 7 bucks priority mail shipped. Now its deciding how hard I should OC my q6600. Hopefully I can find a thread with my ga-p35-ds3r and compare results . Thanks
