Was wondering If i took lets say a 120 mm rad used on a h50 or alc domino filled it with

water . epoxied a coper block with proper 775 or 1156 hole mounts . It would act as a giant heatpipe / vapor chamber. slap a fan on it.

would it work? work well ?could increas the diam of rad to be cube like sorta 2-3 times
size..

small rad pic.

IIRC, aren't heatpipes vacuum sealed? And they have a wicking material inside as well.

if you did the calculations involved with a properly operating heatpipe, it could theoretically work. probably not nearly as well as a heatsink you could buy for $40.

heatpipes run completely sealed and at a very specific internal pressure, with very pure water, in a very calculated internal volume to promote the phase-changing effect. they also dont use very much water in them (maybe 1cc per foot- if that) and the tubes are usually very short leading directly to the heatsink fins. it would certainly not be as efficient as running a regular water loop with a pump.

i think this is a case where bigger does not necessarily = better.
