Ok, I know this is silly for me to ask. I have a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme and a pair of Scythe S-FLEX fans. Should one plug in the cpu fan header? and does the other just use anyother on the motherboard? or should they just be connected to the powersupply directly?

I've used the same fan with a different HS and am sure its cool to use the cpu header on the mobo. No issues with that.

I think chrsharvick29 is wondering is whether or not plugging in two fans that are in a push-pull configuration to different sources of power would be okay. I guess in this case it would only matter if there are adverse effects to the possibility of the fans spinning at slightly differing speeds.

Your Heatsink fan should be plugged into the CPU fan header, some MB will shut down unless they know the HSF is connected.

The case fans dont matter, they can be plugged into MB headers or the molex from a PSU, its just a PITA to manage the cables running fans off the PSU. A nice fan tail is easier to manage when placed on the MB header.

Most MB software will also let you know the fan is spinning, and warn you when it stops.:D

I've tried that too. the diff. is minimal about 10-20 rpms at most so it's ok to put them in a push-pull config. also
