heating issues

well my case is a tj06 i believe (w/window) and i have the stock fans in it (2x120mm and 1x80mm).......then i have the psu fans but cant do anything about that.....and i got the xp-90 heatsink.........i had a good fan on it but it was too loud (pissing off the parents) so i just threw some cheap fan on (think its the prob).......

during the winter it was fine cause the cold weather but now the weather is heating up and so is the comp. its fine when surfing the internet and stuff but when playing games i think the ram is getting too hot (games start to freeze for bits of time..and graphics start to skew and stuff....me no like  ...no it is not lag).

system specs........oh god its been a while.......some enermax 520W psu (its good, not the prob), MSI neo4 platinum i think (the first msi sli board), amd 3500+ (winchester core...the first 90nm one)......one Nvidia 6800 ultra (the BFG OC one, stock cooling)..1gb (2x512mb) G.Skill "LA" TCCD chips running 2-2-2-5 (they dont have heatsinks on them) (they were the shiz :D ,imo, when i go tthe comp)

yeah nothing is overclocked...dont convince me (i like my warranties :p )...plus everything runs fast enough for me to complain.

i basically need new fans.....im gonna start with the cpu fan first (cause it cools the ram a bit too and i think thats the prob)...and if it doesnt work out, F' it, ill replace them all....

from what i remember the panaflo 92 mm, 38mm depth, fan was supposably the best for the xp-90 (there may be variations of the heatsink by now but when i got it it was just xp-90)..i was gonna get it except my parents wanted a quick fix and the store didnt have it..........

so..yeah....id appreciate any feedback and a recammendation of some program or anything to monitior the temp of my comp....the corecenter thing with the motherboard tells the cpu temp but i dont think i got all the fans plugged in the right spots and stuff......

money isnt a prob for this..i figure it would cost $20-$30 for all the fans...but im not paying liek $15-$20 for just one fan..im not a idiot.....at least i dont think so....no offence to anyone

I wouldn't worry about the ram, as long as your not overclocking the ram should be one of the more stable components. i would think that it is either your CPU or GPU that is overheating. Use a program like MBM 5 to check your cpu temps in windows and just go to nvidia control panal to check GPU temp. For cpu temps 50-60C is pushing it ,but anything over 60C is way too hot. GPU's are a little more resistant to overheating and can handle up to 75C(but its best for it to stay under 65C)

i like my warranties

i got the xp-90 heatsink
The Limited warranty shall be null and void if the AMD processor that is the subject of this Limited Warranty improperly installed or is used with any thermal solution other than the one provided
Whoops. not sure how they know. probably dont
check to see if the video card fan is operational. when my GF4 mx440 would overheat games would stop and when it cooled off they would keep going again.
try taking the side off and pointing a huge floor fan at the mobo and game

yeah i bought the cpu as a oem so it didnt have a warranty to begin with......at first i thought it would be cool to overclock but then i thought it would be pointless.....

i heard about putting a big fan next to the case...but i dont have one :(

ill get that MBM 5 program and check the nvidia controls for the temps...

whatever the problem is ill probly need to buy something.........

thz for the advice :)

yeah.....GPU temp just got 72 C............CPU is 40C...........maybe i will dust out my comp a bit

ill assume that your 6800U is 72C idle... wow. imagine how hot it gets when your playing a game. You might want to consider getting a decent aftermarket heatsink for your videocard.
maybe the stock heatsink's fan has broken on your 6800U

it was 72 when i was playign a game..........but it idles at about 60 :( ........

the cpu is always 40-45.....is that bad? because i put the alert thing on the nvidia monitor and its flashing at 39.....so yeah im getting confused......

how do i know if the heatsink is broken and if it is doesnt the warranty cover it?.......i never touched the thing i couldnt have voided it.........

i dont want to get aftermarket cooling for it if the warranty will fix it for free.......not like im OC'in it any time soon....

-------UPDATE----------

this is fucked wierd...........the nvidia monitor thinks the gpu is fine at 77 but when the cpu is at 39 it says its too hot...i dont want to deal with this bs.....ill just replace the cpu fan.....but wat should i get?

like we had mentioned gpu's can handle a lot more heat than cpu's. gpu under 85 is fine for 6800u, thats not the problem. cpu at 39 isnt too hot, but since there is no overclock and you do have the xp-90 it should be cooler. Unfortunately when you buy a single fan you will pay $15 or so....shipping is killer. the panaflo would be an excellent choice, and would likely help to cool things off. I'm not entirely sure you coudl tell if anything is broken with the xp-90, and for the cost of shipping, it would probably to just buy another heatsink and fan anyway. I also have g.skill tccd's, abd even with 2.85v, these things are perfectly stable with no air over them at all, tccd simply doesnt get hot. I think you shoudl run some rthdribl in near full screen and monitor temps to stress the gpu while being able to watch at the same time, also if this program does the artifacing/freezing, then there is soemthign wrong with the gpu, either heat or its gone bad. let us know how it turns out, and good luck.
