Heatercore painting?

I plan on painting my heatercore mainly because it tarnishes too easily. I was curious as to how others went about painting their heatercores.
 
If you like the brass/copper look of the heatercore, you can clear coat it also,and it will retain its shine without tarnishing,i prefer to paint mine gloss black and then i clear coat it after words, it really makes the paint allot stronger against scratching also .But yeah the guide at OC is a good one to go by for sure.
