which of the two is better? from wat i can gather the black ice is easier to mount into a case which seems a lot better although im not sure of the performance differences.

i dunno about easier to mount... I got one of each and just riveted a bracket at the top of my case. the BIX is prettier and that's about it haha. no seriously they both work well just one has more of a bling factor and might have a higher btu rating or whatever... get what suits your budget :)

has anyone ever tried mouting a heater core in a lian-li pc-v1000? or could anyone give me ideas on how to do it?

the PC1000 looks fairly much the same as a PC-70/71/75 of which I own a PC-75 and I had a single 120mm heater core up top with no problems...now Ive got a dual 120mm heater core with not one hitch.

i've got the pc60 series i think... the midtower ones

like i said i just drilled out the rivets in the top of the case took it off, cut a hole in it and added some brackets to the top of my case over top my cdroms (takes up 1 5.25 slot) and then put the top back on with some rivets. looks great, works better! i have 2 rads in there right now.

i think i will go with Hwlabs. i really dont want to tear apart a $200 case

I forgot to actually reply to this thread earlier, my bad...

The black ice type rads i've worked with before have holes on the casing to mount fans to, which is very useful, but i like to shroud my radiators/heatercores for optimum performance. I think if you're handy at all (drill + mounting posts + washers/nuts) you'll be able to mount the radiator no problem. There are a few ways to go about doing it, and you could look through the watercooling sticky to get some ideas if you're out...

I've got a PC-65 and a 120mm heatercore was perfect for jamming it above the 5.25" bays... I'm not very familiar with the case you mention, so i can't comment..

if you look closely at the PC-65, there are the 5.25" bays that run all the way back to the power supply (at least the metal piece). I hit my radiator up there with the barbs pointing down (duh) and you can see about 2mm of it peeking out from there... (Just an idea where it is). I used a 120mm chevette heatercore (identical if not very very similar to commercially sold heatercores for w/c).

but you still gotta put it somewhere, how you bonna mount the hw labs one?
i thought the black ice was designed to mount where a 120mm fan is supposed to go?

in my BIX2 there are holes where a 120mm fan could go... but i can't get a screw in there without bending some fins and the holes aren't the same size as those of the fans.
