Can you use a Celeron 478 Heat Sink with a Pentium 4? The one they sent me is too big for my motherboard... :(

Of course, but what motherboard is it?

Gateway E2000, the retention mechanism doesn't reach up high enough to grasp the clasps on the heat sink/fan. It's making me mad, so I just put in the Celeron again...

The Pentium 4 and Celeron are identical, you should be able to put the original heatsink back on....

What about the fan, is it strong enough for the Pentium 4? Just asking, I'm being cautious...

Depends on the speed, if it's a prescott, hell no.
If it's a northwood, it's likely.
