Heat sensitive fan control...

Well, I've already got quite a few fans and don't feel like purchasing some heat sensitive ones and at the same time want to cut down the noise a bit.

Just want to know f this would work... from what I know it shouldn't be a problem.

Simply putting running a thermistor to the base of a transistor that controls a fan. Each extra fan above my base fans would turn on at a different temperature resulting in extra cooling as temperatures rise.

Or am I over thinking this?

*note* Must be automatic, otherwise I'll set them low, start some intensive processes, leave and come back to a toasty system.
 
digital doc 5... 8 temp probes & controls 8 fans, each sensor controlls its fan, you set what temp it turns on
