heat problems? $Mft corrupt?

i wrote earlier about my new samsung sata disk crashing... it's not my windows drive.

it's behavior is kind of weird. when i first boot, even if it's only a reboot, i can see it and even browse a couple of directories near the root for a while. as soon as a little time passes from my accessing the HD though, mere seconds to be exact, or when I try to do anything related to files, my VIA RAID controller utility pops up and tells me the "disk failed !!!" and after that I can literally do nothing with the drive. i also get a bunch of "delayed write error" messaged from windows about the NTFS $Mft.

since i can use it for a little bit, I'm guessing there's one of two things. either the file-related part of the $Mft is corrupt (which wouldn't necessarily explain the no-longer-access failure), or there's some sort of weird hardware problem that only allows me to use it for a little bit every time. could that be something going wrong with heating? it's hot, but i don't know how hot really hot is.
 
Could be heat related. Since the materials expand and contract with the temperatures, too much of a variation could cause a misalignment and thus read/write errors. Same issue that caused problems with the IBM "deathstars"
