I have been visiting this site for a while but am new to the forums here i have been looking around and i was wondering if anyone can help me with this problem i am having. my computer is really hot and my issue is not the cpu or case temp but the room my computer is in gets really hot. after playing a game for an hour or two my room is about 85 degrees and that is if it was cool to start with. is there anything i can do that will either reduce the amount of heat or deal with the heat in a way where it just doesnt heat my room?

My computer specs are : Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.0ghz (800mhz fsb) | WD ATA/133 7200rpm 200gig HD | WD IDE 30gig HD | 2x512 pc2700 ram (dual channel) | ATI radeom 9600 256mb agp 8x | Floppy drive | 52x24x52x cdrw | dvd drive | 400w PSU

I have one intake fan and 2 exhaust (3 if you count the PSU fan)

Also I would prefer a low cost solution but other options are welcome.

Is there warm air coming out of your case?

Generally that setup shouldn't put out much more heat than a 100 watt lightbulb.

You could try ducting the exhaust to a window or something, but it sounds more like a problem with the air conditioning in the house.

The air coming out of the case is warm but not really hot but as the room gets warmer so does the air coming out.

there's no way the computer will heat a room all by itself unless the room is a 4x4x4 box.

bs. Maybe yours doesn't, but mine sure as hell does. I don't see how it couldn't considering I have 6 voltmods done on my machine:D. I'm serious, when I first turn on my computer, my room temp is 70F. An hour later my room is in the mid 80s. ANd it is my computer trust me. My room is huge for a bedroom too.

My room is pretty big for a bedroom and it is my computer this causing the increase in temps and it really does get warm in there two days ago i was playing generals online for about two hours and i just had to leave because i was sweating. my case temp was 98 and my room was in the 90s.

Its probably not the computer but the monitor.
If you have a CRT monitor then its probably dumping twice the heat into your room than your computer dose.
My main rig by its self wont heat up my room as it only dumps around 200 Watts of heat.
Switch my monitor on ( Sony FW900 ) and the room heats up nicely.

Options.
1. Open doors and windows, use a room fan to move the air around.
2. Buy a flat panel monitor.
3. Install some kind of Air Con.

The issue is that the thermostat for your A/C is not in the same room as your computer. Therefore, it doesn't know that it should add extra cooling to compensate for the extra heat.

The simplest solution is this: Before playing, go to your thermostat and switch the fan switch to "On" from "Auto". This will circulate the hot air from your computer room to the remainder fo the house. I'd say this would give you a 95% chance of fixing the problem.

If that doesn't work, keep the computer room door open and buy a $10 fan from Walmart to exhaust the heat.
