Headset setup for both PC and Xbox?

Hi folks! I am looking for a headset solution that will be fed by my PC and xbox at the same time. I don't mean that I want to listen to audio from both at the same time, but I don't want to have to swap cables between the two when I use one or the other. I also don't want to have two separate headsets.

The nearest product I have found so far was the Plantronics RIG which can accept TOSlink and 3.5mm, but it requires a USB cord connected to whichever device is being used.

I also looked at the Astro A40 Headset/Amp, but I was not able to determine if it can be connected to two devices simultaneously.


I think the only answer is going to be a stand alone headphone amp with input selection, but I have no idea what to look at for this. I have always just used a stereo headset connected to the front panel. do headphone amps pass the microphone back to the computer?

My current headset is a Corsair Vengeance 1400, if I got a headphone amp would these be sufficient?
 
astro mixamp is very good
you can use the toslink input for xbox and the usb input for pc at the same time

for xbox you just have to set the system to 5.1, press the DH button and you're set

pc doesn't work that good - sound positioning wise, so you will have to use another solution, i highly recommend razer surround software, works with pretty much every pair of stereo headphones !!

I have been searching all over for information about this but I cannot find the answer at all.

The Astro A40 headset has a 4 pole combined 3.5mm jack that carries both audio and mic on a single connected to the Mixamp. If i want to use my Corsair headset which has a separate jack for audio and mic, how do i connect it to the Mixamp? I have looked for a reverse splitter that would make my headset a 4 pole single jack connection but I cant find one.

Thanks for the reply SoFGR, it looks like buying a stand alone MixAmp is going to be my best/easiest/most convenient solution to getting a headset for my xbox. Now I just need to convince the wife i need to spend 130$ on a headset accessory to go alone with my 500$ xbox....
