Currently, I am using a Plantronics DSP-500 headset. I like the sound, I love the microphone, but the darn things are so uncomfortable... I cant have them on for an hour without my ears dieing of agony. I took a look around on newegg, but I saw nothing that sounded any better... Can anyone speak from experience a good headset? All im really interested in is:
1) A general confortable feel
2) Good sound... im not an audiophile, but good loud, clear sound.
3) Microphone, of course.

Any help would be appreciated!

But the sennheiser PC 150/160 or Icemat Siberias(supposedly, according to various reviews are extremeley comfortable and among the top headphones for gamers comes with an attachable/detachable mic.)...There are others of course...I'm still considering which I want to get.
 
like those sennheiser and the icemat, i took a look at them on newegg, all of which had some kind of reviews for common negative effects... Anyone have any other reccomendations?
 
I'd reccomend the hd595's, but most likely out of your price range. Very comfortable tho and they sound good. But around 150 or so to get so not really for everyone's budgets imho....
 
What's your budget? Is having a microphone on the headset itself important to you? You can get a better pair of headphones and then spend the last few bucks on a separate mic.
 
honestly, I dont have much of a budget... Im expecting between 50-100$... sad thing is, I didnt see much of a selection over 50$ at newegg. As far as it being a headset, I do find it a nice convenience to have it attached and not have to worry about an extra object on my desk. However, I am considering rethinking if that is whats reccomended.
 
I just now tried out my headphones. Let's see, a bulleted list would be nice.

Pros
  • Fits comfortably, even though I have a large noggin and wear glasses
  • I haven't tried out more expensive headsets, but they sound better than any other headset I have used
  • Microphone works well. You can't hardly hear any background noise like TVs, etc.
  • Cord is nice and long.
  • The package was really easy to open. It wasn't like most blister packs where you have to use the jaws of life to open it.

Cons
  • It doesn't block outside noise as much as I would like.
  • I haven't listened to it for very long (30 minutes tops). So, I don't know how comfortable it will be over a long time.

I would recommend this headset. I considered the PC 155's but I didn't want to pay the extra $$$ for USB.
