I have a Xonar DX 7.1 sound card. This card supports DDL and Dolby Headphone. Im looking for a good set of cans. I was looking at the A40tr. Do I need the MixAmp? I like the A40tr since I have the option to use closed or open back with mod kit.

I really enjoy my Vmoda Crossfade m100's with the boom mic. But recently also got a pair of Hyper X Stingers for shits and giggles and was really surprised about the 4+ hour comfort from them. If you are looking for a simple to pass the time til you find what you are looking for set, I have to suggest the stinger. It's only $50 shipped in the US.

Pleather pads, just say no, they will make your ears sweat. My recommendation is to get Sennheiser HD558 and buy a separate mic. For long gaming sessions comfort is paramount and HD558 have good SQ too.
