Over at FF a couple of us have been trying to have a meaningful debate about the current state of A3 folding especially with regards to 2684 and 6701. Vijay himself has read the comments so hopefully it was done the right way and will help towards solving the problem. however someone has come on being an a*****e especially towards us. I hope no one minds but i've tried to put a point of view across that is fair and reasonable especially as i am so new to the team. Please feel free to say if you think i've stepped out of line and if i have i apologise in advance.

Prettz is sharing an opinion which he/she's entitled to do, but the basis of he/she's argument and insinuating that we're a bunch of 4ghz dual core whiny assholes is really stepping out of line. :D

Sigh, just finished reading that thread. Seems like there are a lot of opposing views (as usual). Prettz had a few valid points but like others have already mentioned, his insistence with focusing on the dual-core issue substantially lessened the impact behind a lot of his arguments, which largely centered on hardware obsolescence. Fine, we get that, don't run P4s on -bigadv. However, that is not the controversy afflicting the P2684 units AT ALL - stability is.

Believe it or not, I didn't find Prettz as detracting form the thread as the character suggesting Stanford withdraw -bigadv from public availability altogether. Much that would do to advance the science. Moreover, his position that folders are completely at fault for investing in the hardware resources they select on running, doesn't hold much water, IMO. Folders are under the assumption certain hardware components and configurations will function to process at a certain level of performance/production. This is determined by what they see in their personal PPD as a standard measure of performance. What other means do we have to determine what to buy in the future? We can't judge by WUPD, which is the only other measurement I can think of.

To sum it up, there are some valid points pro and contra the issues discussed. At the end of the day, how does F@H compare to other major DC projects and the way they are handled? If F@H is similar, then it's the same ballgame but a different team. If it is completely different, then it's a totally different ballgame altogether and warrants further examination.
 
Adjusting to getting less points is certainly harder than getting used to a big up tick. But hey, when you're [H]ard, who cares? I understand there are people with issues and some of them may have a point but, oh my goodness people, is this biggest thing you have to fret over? No matter how many points are awarded for the work done, it's the same for everyone. Heck, my team ranking ppd wise is probably better when points are tough than when they get easy. Have fun and remember all that is good about this.

The OP and I weren't trying to bring points up as it leads to all sorts of trouble. We were trying to point out that the science is suffereing becuse there are issues with some projects that as causing people either to switch to other clients or stop folding all together. The OP brought up the issues in a fair and constructive way - even to the point of Vijay himself responding to us, hopefully the point of view that was initally brought up will have some good effect, unfortuneately a lot of the good stuff got lost in a row over PPD:mad:
