For those that can't find an E8400, apparently the Intel Xeon E3110 is the identical chip, just with Xeon branding on it. Origional linkage found on the inq.

Just a quick search on google finds that the E3110 is still available for under $240 and some even have stock (though not for long after posting this. The E8400's are flying out the doors and are damned hard to come by right now so this is a great alternative.

Overclocking Intel's Core 2 Duo E8400 Xeon Counterpart, the E3110
This is where Intels Xeon E3110 processor comes in. On paper it has the Xeon branding, but under the hood its the same as the Core 2 Duo E8400. They are 45nm Socket 775 processors, and have the same 3GHz operating frequency with 1333MHz quad-pumped bus. Their architectures and instruction sets are the same as well.
