Ok heres my situation. By the end of this year I'm gunna hook up my PC and my Xbox360 and my DVD player to one LCD TV

I wanna take off the speakers and use a nice pair of headphones for all 3 sources.
It seems to me that the dedicated amp headphones are the way to go.

I know I will use optical out from my PC and DVD player but how would I connect from an Xbox 360?

since I'm not sure, can someone point me out to a nice quality set with enough inputs?

im looking for 5.1

ask me if I forgot something

thanks for reading

I'm a little confused. You said you want to use headphones for all 3 sources, and then you say you wan't 5.1?

your not going to get 5.1 out of headphones.... your best bet would be to get a decent reciever that has plenty of opti or coax digital in and use that to decode the signal then hook up your headphones to that.... there are headphones out there that can "simulate" surround sound but they are usually more trouble then they are worth....

Ok so It might not be TRUE 5.1 but it sounds the same right?

in this forum, you will get flamed for wanting 5.1 headphones. just dont get them, they are cheap, gimmicky and have horrible sound quality

I haven't tired them but Zalman (http://www.zalmanusa.com) makes 5.1 heatphones. They aren't too expensive and I would have baughten them if I hadn't gotten my Bose Triports a year before...
Zalman 5.1's sound like complete crap. Worse than dollar-store earbuds. Seriously. Even the sound positioning isnt all that great. Do a search here for 5.1 headphones.

Bose Triports are INSANELY expensive considering the sound you get from them. There are over 10 better cans <$150 that sound 100% better than the Triports. Check the reviews at Amazon.com, and http://head-fi.org/ + http://headphonereviews.org/

My recommendations? Audio Technica A500, Sennheiser HD497/HD280/HD485/AKG K501/K26P/K141S/K240S/Beyerdynamic DT231.

While you are wearing the Zalmans or not? :p
Hell no. I plan to die wearing the Orpheus II :p

Oh, and I meant worst "post" ever. Sorry, had too much scotch. Calling it a night :(

How about shootting yourself with the camera while wearing them then?

Maybe not cause you prolly won't ever live that down. :p

BTW,
There is no such thing as having drank to much Scotch.
Drink till you puke then drink some more. :D

And since we are here already:

O Knight of Ni, you are just and fair. ;)

well... hmmm... as we all know....

there is one small problem... :)

(oy, the worthless stuff that is stored in my mind... if i could only remember important things... )

Oh! Great scott! Hm. Hmm.

(And yes, I know what you mean about useless information)

Wow...CORVETTEZ06 left the forums because of what I said about his Triports :( He sent me a PM, but I couldnt respond because he blocked me.. Here's my response if you still browse here Z06..

Sorry, I didnt mean to flame you, just the cans. If you like them and you're happy with them, then I'm happy for you ;) If you care to learn more about the Triports, just check out the reviews at Amazon.com and other sites with headphone reviews/comparisons such as head-fi.org & headphonereviews.org.

I just dont like people defending the Bose products if they havent heard any other high end cans, thats all. I among a few others here have heard most headphones available, and have a strong dislike for the Bose. Its like someone who owns an XGI Volari card saying its a great card for gaming, they will get flamed. Again, sorry that what I said made you angry. I do admit to posting that after having some scotch. Also, I noticed you posted in the Forum Feedback that you are leaving because of what I said. Dont leave because of the ramblings of a drunken man ;)

c'est la guerre... he was probably already miffed over something that occurred in a different thread (not that i'd know anything about that or anything)...
