I know this gets asked all the time, but are the HD 280's any good? I don't want to get the Klipsch Ultra 5.1's right now. Instead I am leaning toward buying some descent headphones. I plan on conecting them to the pod on my Promedia 2.1's. How will they sound? Is there a better choice for about $100

these are the best headphones i've ever used. I'd buy another if I needed. I recommeneded it to 2 friends and no regrets what so ever. they are comfy and look really nice.

look on ebay though, its cheaper and they are still new.
 
thanks, I just ordered them. I went to ebay, I coulda saved a few bucks, but I said screw it and got 'em at newegg. The reviews there looked great. I just wanted to make sure that they are a little better than my $20 sony headphones, and they appear to be:p
 
when i went from regualr headphones to these, i almost fainted. their incredible. the bass in it is bad ass compared to the norm. it kinda makes u feel woozy with the base. as far as with gaming, no one can sneak up on me :)

now I just can't wait till i get my cables so I can test my amp from MisterX :)

It has been said by many that that particular model of headphone is much improved after being played for quite some time. You can read a FAQ about it this process of "burning in" a pair of headphones.
 
I just recieved them! So far they sound great hooked up to my computer. But when I hook it up to my home theater reciever (Sony DA2ES) they sound terrible. It automatically goes into "Headphone Theater" mode an makes it sound all echoy. If anyone knows about Sony ES recivers, please let me know how to fix it
 
Is it worth it to get a sound card for them? The integrated sound from my NF7-S sounds fine, but will I notice an big improvement with a sound card?
 
For under $100, look into the e-mu 0404, but then you'll need an amp.
You could also go with the Chaintech AV-710 + CMOY or MINT amp which would be under $100 total.
