i try to find out what's noise cancelling technology and how it works. bose, altec lansing... they use the same technology or they use their own one?
by the way, hi there. i'm a newcomer.
 
Most headphones that feature active noise cancellation work on the same basic principle but they all have their own little ways to tweak said principle.

They have a microphone just in front of the speaker usually, which listens to the sound that you're hearing which is the music + noise around you. Then the noise cancellation circuit takes away the noise from the music it knows it's playing, and generates the 'opposite' sound which it mixes in with the music to cancel out the noise.

It doesn't work as comprehensively as the theory would lead you to believe, but in the cases of the top headphones in this category they're fairly effective.
