headphone+mic splitter?

Hey guys,

I was looking for new headphones and after a lot of research I decided im going to order the ATH-AD700 which people are saying are very good, and they are in my price range.

now the AD700's don't have a mic with them, so I thought I would buy a mic like this zalman clip on:

Im going to mainly be using this for my PC (mostly gaming).

but I also would like it use it very occasionally for my cell phone. and that has only 1 plug (2.5mm i think)

I've been googling away for a splitter/adapter that can give me both audio and voice into one plug so i can use it for my cell phone, so far the only thing I've gotten was two 3.5mm audio's like this, which im not sure would work

is there any way that I could get functionality from my headphones + a clip on mic for a cell phone?

I think you might be able to make one. I believe the jack on the iphone for example is a 3.5mm jack with LR+extra+ground (4 conductors, not 3 as a standard 3.5mm stereo jack is). I think if you bought a 2.5mm socket that had 4 conductors, and some wire, with 2x3.5mm jack sockets, you could DIY your own adaptor. Although, having said that, I haven't personally tried it, and of course your phone might be different!
