Sorry to hear about that.. why don't you get a Chaintech AV710? That can pass bit-perfect digital, and wouldn't cost more than the average consumer PC these days. I plan on getting one once I get some more channels, so I can get some movie loving =]

FWIW "bit perfect" means nothing when even opening a window caused either of the DAC's (I had three of them at that time) to reset. ;)
 
Hmm, that's no fun at all... Why is your DAC so sensitive like that? I've got my 1212M hooked up to my receiver's digital in, and I've never had a single stutter, besides the fact that it takes my receiver about 2 sec's to lock onto the signal the first time I fire it up [a known bug of my SR8200, but I'm not paying 150$ for the upgrade to fix it]

Just curious, because I plan on getting a nice external DAC at some point to add to my system, and I'd rather avoid the mess that you are experiencing. Also, what DAC do you have?
 
It's not too cool, but luckily only happens at the beginning of playing music, and it's only about 2 seconds or so. It's possible that most of the SRx200 line has that problem, but I've only heard it in conjunction with the 8200 before now. Like I mentioned, there's an upgrade for my receiver that fixes that and upgrades it to Circle Surround 2, or some damn thing, but I'm not too concerned about it. I'd most likely put that 150-200$ towards buying a nice separate setup sometime. The Emotiva stuff from AV123 looks great, but it'll be a long time before I'll be able to afford that stuff =[

My current DAC is a very tweaked DAC-AH
I guess you missed the part about not just one, but three different dac's had the same problem with the AV-710.
Flashing the card with the Prodigy firmware did help but it never fixed the problem.
Imagine waiting for YOUR DAC to reset every time the card had a hiccup and you will get an idea of just how annoying that card was. :(
Now do think it's possible that we can direct this thread back towards the topic of headphone amps?
