? Are there any gpu able to display cable hdtv signals. The ati pci-wonder only does broadcast hdtv. In other words a gpu with a hdtv tuner that will allow me to bypass that cable-tv decoder and watch a hdtv channel while the vhs (digital) records a different hdtv channel through the decoder. Also watching hdtv DVD through the puter's 23" monitor should be nice. (No dvd drive yet for puter.)
It seems the resolution from puter's tv-out to a hdtv set leaves alot to be desired, and soon there will be regional scramble/chips in the hdtv tuners to further complicate matters. Not to mention scramble on DVD to prevent watching them through hard drive.
ps. What is the equivalent recording on DVD to vhs, like a 6hr vhs in EP speed or 2hrs in SP speed... (the two hr movie on VHS nearly fills the vhs in SP speed, whereas one can put three movies on the 6hr VHS tape if one records in EP speed,) with a 6GB DVD it seems a single movie nearly fills the DVD. And soon with the dbl side 23GB DVD I wonder how many movies I can save onto those, especially when the disk get reasonable in price.
pss: Audio out, isn't the audio fedality in a rack mount component stereo system ALOT beter than one can get from a single pci type audio card. The pre-amp has quite alot of circuitry and would seem to provide alot beter audio to my amp & floor mount speakers, vs the tiny speakers the puter audio outs to. So... that leads me to wouldn't one get alot beter sound if one just piped the sound from the computer & feed it to the pre-amp stereo system (pissing off neighbors with all the explosions and screams of monsters killed [200W of dolby, thx, ect.])
