ok i have a albertron 6800 its nice with a large heat sink and i have a hdtv also nice i want to hook it up i have a vga to componit adapter so i need to know is this going to work and if so how

Why don't you just use the DVI connection on the HDTV? DVI is of better quality than component.
 
DVI is nicer if you have a HDTV that has the input for it (many don't) and you hookup the computer no further than maybe 10 feet from the computer. Over 10 feet and the DVI signal tends to degrade too badly and starts to artifact.

Depending on the videocard, you may be limited to 480p and 720p, Nvidia does not really like 1080i (interlaced) all that well.

BTW: Technically speaking the 6800 does not officially support HDTV out, but you should be able to hack your away around it, by forcing 720x480 or 1280x720 at 60hz. Kind of sad really, especially considering ATi has had HDTV support since the 8500.

Just to note: Nvidia does have some definite weird HDTV quirks, Anands August review goes over them (maybe they have been/will be resolved at some time)

Nvidia seems to like to natively underscan 1280x720 to a 1088 x 612 window inside 1280x720. Its pretty obvious the 6800 was not designed for HDTV from the bottom up.

Does his HDTV not have DVI or VGA inputs? Also what does he mean by:

Does he mean the ATi Componet adapter? If so then that only works with a few ATi cards only.
