hdmi port?

Would my laptop be able to run a 30 inch display from the hdmi port if I used a dvi to hdmi adapter? It has an 8400m GS
 
I don't see why not, might as well try it and see what happens.

I also heard sometimes hdmi to dvi causes higher resolution to not work out of the box though.
