Can someone explain to me how/why some HDMI ports don't accept a pc input? I've never heard of this. I have the Panasonic TH-50pz80u (which has an incredible picture for $1600!!) that wont allow me to plug in my pc using either of the 2 rear HDMI ports but the one in the front does work (using DVI to HDMI cable). If I plug in my PC and turn it on before the TV is powered on the TV's power light will just blink and the TV will not respond to ANYTHING. Panasonic Customer Service confirmed that it's not designed to allow for a PC connection but couldn't tell me why exactly. I could actually trick the rear HDMI ports into working but only temorarily. If I turned the TV off but left the PC on and then tried to turn the TV back on, the TV would become non-responsive until I unplug it for a minute or two. For all I know that method might actually damage the TV...

Panasonic are trying to get out of supporting your problem.
Ask for written/email confirmation why a PC connection is not supported via HDMI.

There is no reason the ports shouldnt work..
I have the 42PZ80B and all three HDMI ports work with my PC.

There is a possibility that your gfx card is being overzealous and the TV is protecting itself.
Have you tried your PC on any other HDMI display?

My samsung says the same thing, but it works fine when set to the native resolution of the panel (1080p).

That is really bizarre, and as stated above theres no reason they should not be able to help you as long as your not sending a signal greater than the screen can take.

Try a really low resolution and see if it will fire up, if it does work your way up to the max of the display.

When I just built my new HTPC my almost 2 year old Mitsu DLP fired right up under HDMI at the default window's resolution during format.

Have you tried a different HDMI port on the TV in case that one is defective?

So I called Panasonic again and got someone a little more helpful. I still can't tell if this is a defect or just a decision that was made during design that people are starting to get pissed about. At any rate, they are now shipping me a General Electric HDMI Ultra Prograde Extension Adapter that is supposed to correct the issue. He mentioned something about when the TV is off, the rear HDMI ports not being able to handle the signal from the video card and registering it as an "unexpected event or condition" and thats why it does it's "I don't want to turn on" blinking red lights thing...

Thanks for the responses! I'll update whenever I receive that adapter...

Good of someone to finally understand whats going on and try to help you out!
