My brothers girlfriend is out of town for a few days so he had me bring over my computer. The plan was for me to hook up my comp to his 47 inch 1080p lcd. I thought this wouldn't be much of an issue because my card has a mini hdmi output. Anyway, I get everything all hooked up but when i turn on the comp his tv says there is no signal. I have tried just about all his hdmi ports and none of them report a signal with my computer on.

To use the hdmi output do i have to enable something in the drivers? Or should it just be plug and play?

Does your card have a DVI output? Do you have a converter for DVI->HDMI?

Can you enable the output through the control panel? It could be that it just isn't automatically detecting a TV. Try going in and changing the output resolution.

Also, do you have 1 or 2 monitors hooked up? The GTX 480 can only handle 2 outputs regardless of the number of ports on the back, so if you have 2 monitors hooked up you can't hook up the TV without disconnecting one of the monitors.

Not sure if this might be the case but perhaps your PC's resolution is higher than what the TV can actually support up to? Try lowering the resolution to a 1024x768 first before connecting it to your TV.

Ok, sorry it took so long to get back. I was able to get it working. The mini hdmi cable has to be plugged in extremely tight. When I first tried plugging it in a couple times it didn't feel loose at all, but you have to apply a lot of pressure. The audio worked right off the bat through the hdmi cable as well.
