I have been researching this for months and have not been able to find any solution. I have a ATi Radeon HD 3870 graphics card and on the side of the box it says "Built-in HDMI and 5.1 surround audio." I'm using a DVI to HDMI adapter and using an HDMI cable from the card to my LCD screen. But for some reason the only audio device that is available is "Realtek HD Audio Output" I have tried installing multiple versions of the Realtek ATi HDMI Audio driver but every install stops halfway to this error "No driver was supported in this driver package" All my audio drivers are up to date and I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Does anyone have any ideas why I am receiving this error?

what i did was let windows update install it for me when i had problems and that worked.

Had the same problem too with the same card.

Make sure you have the DVI to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable from your video card to your display. Then install the ATI HDMI Audio Driver from here and restart.

You should be able to select HDMI audio out from the sound device list.

That drive is an old driver from like 2006 and I don't think it is the right one

Uninstall all the other HDMI audio drivers that you tried before install this new one.

i dont have any ones installed, lol the one Realtek has on their site when i try to install it halfway through i get "No Driver is soppurted in this driver package" and it seems like that one that i just installed didnt do anything
