Can someone tell me if one is better than the other? Is there an adapter to switch from DVI to HDMI? Thanks.
 
plenty of adaptors and cables that you can use to change from one to the other, pin for pin, video is exactly the same, HDMI is just smaller and can also carry audio.
 
I thought HDMI was just on HiDef equipment (HDTV, DVR, etc) and restricts Digital Rights Media.
DVI can allow protected content to pass, and is the current computer display standard.
