I have the Lian-Li PC-65b with my 120GB hard drive in the metal enclosure right behind the two intake fans. The only dust protection is the mesh thing that came with the case. Some dust still gets through and deposits on the floor of the case. I was wondering if the exposed electronics of the hard drive can get covered with dust and damage the drive.
 
Unlikely, most dust is minimally conductive, I have seen dust bunnies in old computers that after opening the case they yelled at me then scurried into a darker corner of the case. (well not quite, but you get the idea)

shouldnt hurt it too bad. just dust of the interior 2x a year at least with some air duster and you will be good to go. (unless you grind and debur metal around your pc, which would put lots of metal dust into the air and get sucked in there. that would eventually conduct electricity.)
