In my main system I've got three HDDs:
- Quantum Fireball 20 GB -> no apparent temperature monitoring capability
- Maxtor 120 GB -> currently at 28C
- Samsung 120 GB (5400 rpm) -> currently at 16C
All temperatures measured using Speedfan and with an ambient temperature of around 15C. The HDDs are suspended in a self-invented contraption (basically an aluminium U-bracket attached to the HDD and mounted in 5.25" bays).
What I find interesting is how the 5400 rpm drive is close to the ambient temperature, whereas the 7200 rpm drive is nearly double that.
What temperatures do you see with your system(s)?
