HDD suggestion

Could someone please suggest a fast, reliable hard drive? I don't need it to be very big, but I'd like it to be fast.

Seagate 7200.10 SATA hard drive.

Cheap per mb, good reliability, and top of the line performance all in one!

No downsides that I know of.

what do you mean by fast? How much money do you want to spend? Do you have PATA/ SATA/ SCSI?

This is the motherboard I'm getting; it has PATA and SATA. I'd like the HDD to be under $100, and by fast I mean high RPM, high cache, and a fast transfer rate. I was actually thinking of Western Digital's 250GB HDD, but I really don't need 250GB of space.

unless you want to go second hand, you will not find a 10k rpm drive under $100. Many people recommend to stay away from the 36GB raptor, which may be the only drive that you 'could' be able to find sub $100.

I don't need 10k RPM; it's fine if it's just 7200. These four look like the kind of thing I'm looking for. I just like suggestions on which I should get.

My WD1600JD 160GB drive always performed well, was quiet, and rarely became hot to touch.

Personally, I just got a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS, which is a 320Gb HD. Yes, it's bigger than anything I need for my gaming rig, but it's fast, for the most part very quiet (except on seek sometimes), and runs without any problems. My last HD was a Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB and though it was fast, it was way too noisy for my taste.

The new Seagate that I'm currently using is really a very fast drive and spacious for the money.
